The Unofficial Guide to Achieving Your Goals
The Importance of Visualization
“First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.” – Napoleon Hill.
Nothing on this Earth has ever been created without visualization. From the very basic ideas to the brightest inventions known to mankind, every creation begins in the mind.
Someone visualized the house you live in and drew the blueprints before everybody built it. This makes intentional visualization an important part of any endeavor. After all, how can you achieve what you can’t see in your mind’s eye?
Visualization must come from within. It’s a clear mental picture of what you want. You cannot transmit an idea to God or the universe unless you’ve first created it in your mind.
But how can YOU visualize and manifest your best life? The following tips are an excellent starting point:
Give visualization exercises a try and watch your life change
Try a visualization exercise with your goals partner. Close your eyes and visualize yourself. I know it can be difficult but see yourself. Visualize the clothes you’re wearing and what your hair looks like.
If you can’t visualize by seeing yourself, then just be in the moment. Be in the room. Imagine that you’re about to get an award. Visualize the room and everything around you. People are walking up to congratulate you. This is five years from now, so you’re very accomplished in whatever goal you have set.
If your goal was to be a real estate agent, this is five years later, when you’re an accomplished real estate agent. You have sold numerous homes and made so much money for yourself, your broker, and the people around you. Maybe you’re even the broker now, and you are getting an award.
I want you to have a clear mental image of everything happening in that room. What are the sounds and smells? What are people wearing around you? How do you feel about getting this award?
Your feelings during the time you are visualizing are more important than anything else. So, if you visualize yourself getting an award, I want you to feel the excitement.
Imagine the way people feel when they get an Emmy. They’re all excited, crying, and thanking their teams. Have that same intensity when you are visualizing yourself getting an award.
Focus on the ‘small’ things
It’s easy to think, “Great! I have my goals set; now I must begin to move mountains.” It’s a common mistake. Too many people focus on the big steps before ironing out the key small things. You may feel compelled to start looking at investments, hiring people, and putting money out there. But you don’t have to do any of that just yet. True and long-lasting success starts with small steps.
Follow my seven steps before you put another dime out there. Buy my book, ‘The Unofficial Guide to Achieving Your Goals,’ and do the exercises with your goals partner. If you don’t have a goals partner, do it with me every week on Smart Money Tuesday.
Take the time to apply the principles I teach. Continue to read, meditate, pray, and visualize throughout the week. When you lay your head down at night, visualize how wonderful you want the next day to be.
Visualize the goals you have. Visualize what you want to accomplish in your life. There’s no greater power than putting that vision out there. Write the vision and make it plain. I could tell you story after story of things I visualized that have manifested.
There’s power in visualization. You just need to believe. Ask with belief, and you shall receive. Visualization is real, and I encourage you to try it. Know that I am cheering you on as you visualize and sooner manifest the life of your dreams.
You need to follow that visualization with actionable steps. Get your finances in order, get your budget together, and get out of debt. These are all critical steps, but it’s crucial to get the basics correct first. So, sit down with your goals partner and dream big.
Visualize your life. Put that picture and vision out there and feel good about it. Don’t worry about the other stuff just yet. You will eventually take some actionable steps. But I need you to have fun believing, dreaming, and seeing for now.
Visualization is only one of the seven steps outlined in my book, ‘The Unofficial Guide to Achieving Your Goals.’ You can get your copy right here to follow all seven steps and do the exercises.
